What happens if an admissions consultant you turn down after a free consult wishes to spite you and emails the adcomm telling them that you (your name) are shopping around for a consultant? Do you think this could ever happen?

No, that would only make the consultant look bad.

Also, if they did, so what? The consultants are in no way affiliated with the adcoms, so whats wrong with shopping around?

Uh. I don't think any of the admissions consultants here are that spiteful. Kinda throws the whole thing about client privacy out of the window, don't you think? And there's nothing wrong in talking to admissions consultants or getting profile evaluations. I'd rather talk to one of them and know that, say, Booth isn't a good fit for me, than apply and get dinged after spending hours on the application and hundreds on the application fee/GMAT/miscellaneous expenses.
