Hi Apxxrv77,

It is beneficial for one to have a high GMAT score to offset a low GPA. However, while no score can put you in a Safe zone, a 685+ will put you in a strong position.

All the best!

In addition to the above advice use your resume section and the recommendation to demonstrate your analytical skills and ability to think numbers and business outcomes(very relevant if you are a product manager).
You should be able to give confidence to the ISB adcom that you can handle the academic rigor, even though you did not perform at your best level at the undergrad. To strengthen your application, demonstrating leadership skills and a strong why MBA reasoning will also help. Product managers have to often lead without authority and keep the show running despite challenges. bring this element out in your application.

This year's ISB essays focus on intellectual curiosity and experiences. so this can be a good chance for you to show how you are able to apply theoretical concepts to real world scenarios or learn cognitively from things around you- this would further enhance your academic potential.

Hope that helps.

Hi Apxxrv77

You should aim for a high GMAT/GRE score (695+) and, more importantly, have a well-thought-out career goals strategy for applying to the ISB PGP. I would recommend reading my write-up here if you haven’t already, it could serve as a useful starting point for self-reflection as you begin shaping your application.

Dear Apxxrv77,

Even though your 12th and graduation marks may not be exceptional, one clear silver lining is that you completed your graduation from a top-tier engineering college like BITS Pilani, which certainly adds weight to your profile and signals potential.

That said, the best way to offset any concerns around your academic scores is to aim for a strong GMAT Focus Edition score. We would recommend targeting a score of 665 or above, which should place you in a solid position from the perspective of academic readiness and the ability to handle the rigour of the ISB classroom.

At the same time, we want to reiterate that academics and GMAT are just one part of the evaluation process. You still have significant potential to build a compelling and differentiated profile by highlighting impactful stories from your work experience, and by elaborating on your motivations and personal growth through extracurriculars. The mountaineering aspect, in particular, is quite intriguing and we believe it can bring a unique and personal dimension to your application, if framed well.

Overall, we do see strong potential in your profile. We would be happy to speak with you further to explore how to most impactfully present your strengths and how an MBA can serve as a launchpad for your aspirations.

At Team FLY, we are a collective of ISB alumni committed to supporting MBA applicants with profile positioning, essay reviews, and interview preparation. This year, we are also making our services more candidate-friendly and outcome-driven by offering a 50 percent cashback in case a candidate does not make it through. It’s a first-of-its-kind approach in the space and a reflection of the confidence we place in our process.

Hi Apoorv,

Your 10 CGPA (10th), 86.6% (12th), and BITS Pilani background are strong academic anchors. While the 6.9 CGPA is on the lower side, your profile is well-rounded with experience as a Product Manager, a stint at ICICI Bank, a mountaineering certification, sports achievements, and leadership at Conquest.

To offset the UG GPA, we recommend targeting a GMAT Focus score of 715–725 (94–96 percentile as per GMAC data) and ensuring your essays and application effectively highlight your leadership and professional impact.
