I recommend you all get bulletproof vests now that you going to be living in south central LA. Nah, just kidding. I would recommend you try and get some housing in a complex called Tuscany. Its one of the better housing complexes and is very close to campus, and to Marshall in particular. Myself, Im about to graduate Marshall undergrad in december this year. You will probably enjoy it, great teachers. Try to get Paul Orfaella's class if you can, the Kinko's billionaire. He is, in fact, "kinko".

Hi,

Can any alums grace us with their admit weekend experiences? Is it worth attending? I am excited to go, but i am not sure if i can afford the trip only to meet a % of students who don't end up attending.

What does the % of attendees to acceptance ratio look like?

Thanks!

I'm a little biased since I'm helping with the planning...

But I'd say it's definitely worth it to meet your future classmates. Admit weekend helped to drive my decision for me, I had to make sure that I connected with my future classmates before I signed on the dotted line. It's going to be a great experience meeting everyone and figuring out whether the school is the right place for you. In addition, I met a lot of the close friends that I have at USC Marshall from admit weekend. Many people also found roommates that way.

No clue about % attendees to acceptance ratio.. sorry!

I will definitely attend the admit weekend. Already booked flight for it. I will stay in LA for a week and get the apt hunting done.

CyberC1,

In another thread, you recommended Santa monica for housing. But isn't it far away from campus? Commuting would be horrible given the daily traffic jams in LA. Is it worth it to live there?

I'm in West LA right outside Santa Monica - it takes about 20-30 minutes to get to campus. Granted that I'm also skipping morning traffic (as long as you leave by 7:00 AM you'll get there by 7:20 AM - and classes start at 8 AM first semester anyway). The longest I've been stuck on the road is about 40 minutes. For after class, if it was rush hour and I was done with things, I'd hang out with my classmates at their flat in downtown or at a bar until rush hour died down.

I think the traffic jam situation is overblown. It's not as bad as everyone moans and groans about.
