Hey GMAT club - this news stings to write, but I'm in need of some advice. I submitted 4 round 1 applications to HBS, Wharton, Columbia and Booth, and was recently dinged at all three (w/ interview at Columbia) and am on the waitlist for Booth. Obviously I am still hopeful for Booth, but I'm still quite disappointed with what has happened so far. Just looking for some advice, and maybe a bit of a
profile review to get feedback on what I might be missing....
Asian-American Male
Undergrad at "public ivy" BBA program (think UVA, Michigan, Berkeley, Indiana), GPA 3.9
GMAT: 740, Q49 V42 AWA 6.0 IR 8
WE: Will have 4 years at matriculation at a institutional investor (endowment / foundation investment office). Have consistently received highest ratings and was promoted directly to Associate (first analyst for this to happen).
Post MBA plans: Join an impact investing fund or potentially a smaller PE shop. Through work I have done a few direct investing deals but hope to use the MBA to break into the space.
Extracurriculars: Founded an independent performing arts group in college, involved with local art institutes, lead volunteering efforts around the city with a couple of orgs. Completed all 3 levels of the CFA program on first attempt and am involved with the local society.
I got one recommendation letter from my current direct supervisor and another from our CEO. Believe they touched on different skillsets.
Any idea on what I'm missing? I applied to a few more schools for R2, but am worried I'm taking my apps in the wrong direction. Its quite disheartening to receive all these dings...
Thank you in advance!
