Hi everyone!
I am trying to decide in the upcoming month which B-schools to apply to in Europe.
My top 3 choices are HBS, GBS and Wharton and I want to choose 2 more European schools, since I am located in Europe already - top personal faves are LBS and Oxford Said, but I am open to switch.
As a bit of background, I am lawyer with an international law firm (think global top 10) so the conclusion I came to by analysing my current role and future prospects is that, ultimately, taking on the financial burden of an MBA would only be worth it if I pursue one of the more prestigious programs (as you can see from my top choices).
My question is on European schools’ affordability - I am willing to take a loan and hoping to get at least some form of scholarship, but I am concerned about (i) any upfront payments / deposits (e.g HEC told me there is a EUR 9k payment to secure the spot) (ii) costs of living (which I am not entirely sure are covered by the loans) and (iii) scholarship amounts (I am aware thay European schools are less generous). For various personal reasons, my savings are not that substantial as to allow me to pay for my living costs in full for the two years.
So, my question is, which European B-schools do you know to be able to provide this kind of financial aid, if any? Or am I better off just applying to 2 more US schools?
Thank you!!
