After winning 50 percent of the first x games it played, Team A won the remaining 10 games it played. What is the value of x?

Notice that the total # of games played is x + 10.

(1) Team A won 5/8 of all the games it played. The total # of games won = 0.5x + 10 = 5/8(x+10). We can find x. Sufficient.

(2) The total number of games Team A won is equal to x/2 + 10. We knew this from the stem: total games won = 0.5x + 10 = x/2 + 10. Not sufficient.

Answer: A.
