Am almost 60, retiring from an airline pilot job by mid next year.
I have a BS in Management from Univ of IL at Chicago (1977) and am considering applying for an MBA program there.
I have 5-6 years as a real etate broker and have a goal of first earning a Master's in Real Estate, concentration in Finance and perhaps persuing the MBA from there.
One goal is to make contacts through the school program and receive job interviews as I complete the program.
One factor is the State of Illinois funding the tuition and fees due to my military service, and am already approved for that program.

Interested in input from the forum;
- U of I at Chicago
- reasons for going the MBA route
- input from anyone with similar experiences

The age range for Chicago GSB's part time evening program is 23-63 (if I am not mistaken). You might want to get in touch with the GSB admissions office to ask them if you can get in touch with this 63 year old student.

If you know what you want to do with your life post MBA and have the determination to keep up with the rigorous course load (full time) then why not?

I have heard or numerous people getting advanced degrees in their 50s and 60s (even 70s), including my own mother. Age really isn't the issue, rather one's ability to stay motivated through the program. I met two or three guys in their 50s during welcome week and they seemed pretty eager to get started.
