Is the question correct?
'She' is referring to Jane while there is no Jane but Jane's father mentioned in the question. So she (non possessive pronoun) is referring to a possessive noun.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Although Jane's father passed away more than 15 years ago, she still pays an annual visit to his grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful.

A. grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful

B. grave in Minnesota because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful

C. grave, which is located in Minnesota, since she feels that doing it is appropriate and respectful

D. grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful to do so

E. grave in Minnesota since she feels that doing so is respectful and appropriate

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Although Jane's father passed away more than 15 years ago, she still pays an annual visit to his grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful.

A. grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. A pronoun (in this case, it) refers to a previously mentioned noun. If we wish to refer to a previously mentioned verb, we need to use the phrase to do so or doing so.

What helps us identify this question as a pronoun question is the following Stop Sign:

Any pronoun in the underlined part or after it.

Also, this answer choice is stylistically flawed. Using both annual and year is redundant.

What helps us identify this question as a redundancy question as well as identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign:

annual + year

B. grave in Minnesota because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful

While this answer choice corrects the original redundancy, it repeats the original grammatical mistake: a pronoun (in this case, it) refers to a previously mentioned noun. If we wish to refer to a previously mentioned verb, we need to use the phrase to do so or doing so.

What helps us identify this question as a pronoun question is the following Stop Sign:

Any pronoun in the underlined part or after it

C. grave, which is located in Minnesota, since she feels that doing it is appropriate and respectful

While this answer choice corrects the original redundancy, it is still redundant as a result of adding the words which is located after the word grave.

Also, this answer choice repeats the original grammatical mistake: a pronoun (in this case, it) refers to a previously mentioned noun. If we wish to refer to a previously mentioned verb, we need to use the phrase to do so or doing so.

What helps us identify this question as a pronoun question is the following Stop Sign:

D. grave in Minnesota once a year because she feels that it is appropriate and respectful to do so

While this answer choice corrects the original grammatical mistake, it repeats the original redundancy: using both annual and year is redundant.

What helps us identify this question as a redundancy question as well as identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign:

annual + year

E. grave in Minnesota since she feels that doing so is respectful and appropriate

Replacing because with since does not constitute a meaning change since both because and since are reason words.
