Why not B?
"an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and prey on other mammals that inhabit these regions" is modifying "Snow Leopard"

(A) live the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and preys on other mammals that inhabit these regions

(B) lies the home of the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and prey on other mammals that inhabit these regions

(C) reigning over large mountainous regions and preying on other mammals that inhabits these regions are the endangered Snow Leopards

(D) lives the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and prey on other mammals that inhabit these regions

(E) lives a Snow Leopard, an endangered species which reigns over large mountainous regions and preys on other mammals that inhabit these regions

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Amid the mountaintops of central Asia, on the snowy ranges shared by Afghanistan, Pakistan and eastern Tibet, live the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and preys on other mammals that inhabit these regions.

(A) live the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and preys on other mammals that inhabit these regions

Incorrect.

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect and contains two Subject Verb Agreement mistakes. First, the singular subject the Snow Leopard does not agree with the plural verb live. In addition, the plural subject individuals does not agree with the singular verb preys.

What helps us identify this question as a Subject Verb Agreement question and detect the mistakes are following Stop Sign:

The verb precedes the subject

A long complex subject / long distance between subject and verb

(B) lies the home of the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and prey on other mammals that inhabit these regions

Incorrect.

Although this answer choice corrects both original Subject Verb Agreement mistakes, it is stylistically flawed. Replacing the single word live with the four-word phrase lies the home of creates redundancy.

(C) reigning over large mountainous regions and preying on other mammals that inhabits these regions are the endangered Snow Leopards

Incorrect.

Although this answer choice corrects both original Subject Verb Agreement mistakes, it creates a new one. The plural subject mammals does not agree with the singular verb inhabits.

(D) lives the Snow Leopard, an endangered species whose individuals reign over large mountainous regions and prey on other mammals that inhabit these regions

This answer choice corrects the two original Subject-Verb agreement mistakes by changing the plural verb live to the singular verb lives and by replacing the singular verb preys with the plural verb prey.

(E) lives a Snow Leopard, an endangered species which reigns over large mountainous regions and preys on other mammals that inhabit these regions

Incorrect.

Although this answer choice corrects both original Subject Verb Agreement mistakes, it is illogical. A Snow Leopard, that is, a single Snow Leopard, cannot be an endangered species (as opposed to The Snow Leopard).
