\(a_2\) = \(a_1\) + d
\(a_3\) = \(a_1\) + 2d
\(a_4\) = \(a_1\) + 3d
\(a_5\) = \(a_1\) + 4d
  • \(a_5\) = \(a_3\) + 2d
  • The division of the fifth term by the third term gives a quotient of 1 and leaves a remainder of 10 => \(a_5\) = \(a_3\) + 10
=> 2d = 10
=> d = 5


24 = \(­a_1\) * \(a_3\)

24 = 1 * 24 = 2 * 12  = 3 * 8

=> \(­a_1\) = 2; \(a_3\) = 12 (diffference is 10 = 2d)

\(­a_1\) = 2
d = 5
