has anyone else heard about interviews? GIAC said they received all my content November 8th but it's been a month and I've heard nothing...not sure what this means. I'm wondering if I should give them a call.

I got mine pretty quickly after I submitted the app.

Submitted Oct 30th - interview invite 11/12 - interviewed 11/19 - wondering how long it'll take before I hear the decision. Sounds like maybe only 1 person has heard?

From what I recall from last year, we received a decision about 4 weeks after interview. Of course that is more of an average rather than an exact rule, as McCombs doesn't have an official decision date..

I interviewed on November 29th and am really hoping to hear back from the school before January 3rd. I'm cautiously optimistic that I will hear back from them either way before that date.

I began my application to McCombs over the weekend. It is interesting how McCombs has applicants compute their GPA. I went from a 3.65 undergrad gpa to a 3.79. Do any other programs require applicants to recompute their GPA using only upper division coursework?

The more I've read about McCombs, the more impressed I've been with their program. I had a chance to visit Austin for the first time earlier this year and really enjoyed the city. Hopefully, if I'm invited to interview, I'll have another opportunity to eat at Parkside. That place was fantastic.

They give you instructions. I think it was "upper level" classes...I think I used all 500 level and above.

It also raised my GPA. :)

Haas does something similar, but I think they only considered grades after your second year.

For everyone, the McCombs admissions blog is updated. Biggest items include:

"The McCombs School of Business and the MBA Program Office will be closed from Friday, December 24, 2010 until Monday, January 3, 2011. Please contact us with any questions you anticipate before the 24th as we will not be available during that time to take your calls and emails."

and

"Additionally, if you are invited to interview as part of the application process, we recommend that you interview with an alumni in your city and plan to visit campus once school is back in session for the spring semester."

No word on the expected timeline for interviewed student, which seems to be the main question right now.

From the comments section of the article that "piggles" referenced. Interesting..

December 14, 2010 at 9:03 am

"It usually takes 4-6 weeks after your interview to receive a final decision, excluding any holidays/holiday breaks (like Thanksgiving and Christmas). We are trying to release as many decisions as possible before the our offices close for the break but if you interviewed in mid-late November it is more likely that you will receive a decision after we re-open in the New Year. Thanks for your patience!"

That's unfortunate.

Since it seems like the first batch of interview invites was released the 12th, I would guess almost everyone interviewed in mid-late November or later.

I really would have liked that decision this week. :)

I need to make a decision by Jan 3rd. I'm disappointed that I will not be able to take any offer from McCombs into account if it will take them this long. However, based on how trouble ridden the application process has been this year, I'm not surprised they are behind schedule in their decision process. I hope this is not an indication of how the program is run overall.

I'm pretty dissapointed too. You'd think they'd be more on top of getting the application out and students admitted/rejected. Why an enormous public school would roll out and test a new application system at the beginning of the season is beyond me. I'd probably test this year and implement it next year.

Ultimately, it will hurt them because some students will make financial commitments to other schools before they get an admit.
