hrishi84 From a logistics point of view, early applications definitely have an advantage. More than the scholarships, the advantage lies in terms of the odds for getting into your target school. I know that ISB and other top MBAs claim that all rounds are equally competitive, but having seen the B school applications up close for a long time, we know how hard the adcoms work to curate a diverse and highly capable cohort. For that reason, the more you delay your application, the higher the chance that the adcom would have found someone more promising and interesting than you from a similar background as you (industry, function, years of experience, GMAT/GRE, and so on). I have seen seemingly average profiles sail through the admissions process at ISB in the first round, and I have seen very competitive candidates suffer the bloodbath in R2 and R3. So if there's a chance you can piece the various parts of your application together well and apply in R1, definitely go for it.
For the need-based and merit scholarships, the college will duly consider you irrespective of the round for as long as you are truly a deserving candidate. But there is truth in that the scholarship budget gets reduced as the time goes by.
