Hi Abi1995,
The amount of time that you should plan to spend on your applications will depend a great deal on the number of Programs that you apply to as well as the 'rankings' of each of those Programs. With highly-competitive Schools, you'll need a strong GMAT Score and a strong OVERALL profile AND you'll have to properly 'market yourself' to each individual Program that you apply to. This is meant to say that you have one chance to 'stand out' with each application you send - so if you're sending in a generic-looking application, then the Admissions Committees will likely spot that it's generic. It's also worth noting that it takes time to assemble all of the various 'pieces' of your application, so you should plan to spend at least a month (and likely more time than that) on your applications.
Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.
There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
