First and foremost, I want to recognize the absolute privilege that I have earning a 730 (Q47/V44) today. I have no business to be unhappy with my score. However, I'm wondering if a 730 is enough to earn me a spot in my schools of choice, M7+Haas+NYU. Ideally, H/S/W + Columbia/NYU
I'm applying with strong recommendations, an underrepresented industry, and what I believe to be good leadership experience/personal stories. However, I recognize that the tide is against me with only 3 years of work experience at matriculation (non-consulting/PE/fancy roles) and a 3.3 GPA (Mathematics & Economics) from a T50 school as I worked all through college to financially support my family.
I took the exam very sick today and GMAC wouldn't let me postpone without paying again. I was lucky enough to get a 730 still but in my last 3 Official practice exams, was scoring 740-760. I think with 1-2 months extra prep, I have a good shot at 750 but this would mean missing R1.
All things equal, the question is, which path would make my odds of admissions higher, a 730 in R1 or a 750 in R2?
