With a Ph.D. degree in Electrical engineering with low GPA (3.4) and approximately 5 years of work experience,
in case I want to apply for the top 5 MBA schools, what would be my chances of getting in?
I read it somewhere that within top 10 MBA schools the average GPA is 3.3~3.5. However, it seems the top 3 were close to 3.7.
I'm not sure if the low GPA would pull me down.

Top 5 schools have plenty of admitted students with lower GPAs than 3.4
GPA matters but it isn't everything. Every applicant is judged based on his or her unique profile. Bschool admissions process is not like PHD program admissions process where everything matters on high GPA and GRE scores.

I think GPA should not be a problem for you. One of the reasons they look at your gpa is to determine whether you can handle the academic rigor of the mba program. Your PHD should clear those concerns. You should be more worried about things like why you want an mba now after a phd, what made you take a phd and what else made you change your interests towards mba and stuff like that.
