Hi and welcome to GMAT Club! No worries about a late application timeline - life happens!
Your age is getting up there but not critical at this point - you should not feel the pressure that you have to apply this year. Next year will be totally fine. It won't make that much difference, and if by chance you have another masters/advanced degree or any military time/experience, that often gets "deducted".
In general, your chances will be best if you apply in R1 next season. You have a lot more time to get things done/figured out/your GMAT improved, your recommenders prepped, work with a consultant/friend/etc to polish your essay. Your timeline would be really solid. There is no rush to apply in R2 this year but it is possible....
1. You can estimate your chances here:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/what-are-my- ... ml?fl=menu2. I would suggest that if you apply, then you do it right. So get teh best score, best food forward, and best recommenders.
3. Not sure about your GPA but your GMAT may need a bit of a push (see what the
WAMC tool says). I think you can easily get a tutor for a few weeks and get another 20-30 points to be close enough to the magic 7 number that is a passable score within the Top 20.
4. It's best not to to be a reapplicant. The re-applicant essays and story are annoying, such as "What's new with you" what's different this time and that stinks. I would do a push for the GMAT and try to nail it by Christmas or shortly after. That will be your point of no return. If you get 680 or above, it is a "GO". Also, while you are focusing on the GMAT, you can engage consultants/alums/friends/current mba students to take a look at your essays and give you a sense of reality and how complete you are with them.
5. You don't have much time - about a month left and I don't know if you thrive under pressure or crumble. If you thrive, then it is doable. If you like to be structured and organized, I would say your chances are better to apply in Sept 2020. Many feel/think R1 is a better round anyway.
Good luck and welcome again,
BB.
