Given:
- • Arnaldo earns $11 for each ticket he sells, and a bonus of $2 per ticket for each ticket he sells beyond the first 100 tickets
• Arnaldo was paid $2400
To find:
- • The number of tickets Arnaldo sold
Approach and Working:
If we assume the number of tickets that Arnaldo sold is x, then,
- • Earning from the first 100 tickets = 11 * 100 = 1100
• Earning from the remaining tickets = (11 + 2) (x – 100) = 13x – 1300
• Total earning = 1100 + 13x – 1300 = 13x – 200
As the total amount is equal to 2400, we can say
- • 13x – 200 = 2400
Or, 13x = 2600
Or, x = 200
Hence, the correct answer is option D.
