As part of a study on the napping habits of adults, several scientists asked 40 individuals who nap frequently—20 men and 20 women—to record the duration of their naps for one month. These individuals were also asked to record the amount of sleep they get at night. For the purpose of the study, the accepted ideal nap length was set at 10 to 20 minutes per nap. This length has been shown to help combat fatigue and make one feel more alert. The chart above shows the average nap duration and average nighttime sleep length for each of the individuals.
For each statement, select the option from the drop-down menu that completes the statement as accurately as possible according to the information provided.
A. Of the women whose average nap length was in the accepted ideal range, the greatest number received an average of hours of nighttime sleep .
B. Of the men in the survey, of them napped, on average, for more than 30 minutes.
A. The accepted ideal nap range was 10-20 minutes per nap. As per this we have to check the area between the 10-20 minutes per nap and find the maximum number of women in the average duration of the nighttime-sleep slots. From 0-6 no women From 6-6.5 no women From 6.5-7 1 women From 7-7.5 4 women From 7.5-8 2 women From 8+ 1 women Hence the maximum number of women are in the average duration of 7-7.5 hours, thus option B.
B. Total Number of men surveyed are 20, out of these men who napped for more than 30 minutes are (when counted with the average duration of the nighttime-sleep slots) From 0-6 2 men From 6-6.5 3 men From 6.5-7 0 men From 7-7.5 1 men From 7.5-8 0 men Total men 2+3+1 =6 6/20 =30%. Hence option B.
