Hi
AndrewN,
I have a small query- Is "comma" before "but" warranted here? It got my alarm for "comma + fanboys = IC incoming" triggered. Is this a non-issue? Or does the questions need some correction?
I have read Daagh's comment above, and I believe that he thinks it's a non-issue. Do you have the same opinion on this?
Regards,
Deb
Hello, Deb. I agree that the comma is, in fact, a non-issue. It is common to see such a comma in the idiomatic construct
not only X, but also Y. I wrote
a post just earlier today in which I advised someone not to make a quick elimination on the basis of a comma +
and + phrase construct. The takeaway is that we should probably look to other points to guide our assessment of the answer choices.
Thank you for thinking to ask.
