Target question: How many people make up the sales force?

Statement 1: If 3 members of the sales force were to retire, the sales force would be reduced by 5 percent.
Let x = number of workers in sales force.
From statement 1, we can see that 3 workers represents 5% of the sale force
So, we can write: 3 = (5/100)x
Since we COULD solve this question for x, we CAN answer the target question with certainty.
So, statement 1 is SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: If 12 people were added to the sales force, the sales force would be increased by 20 percent.
Let x = number of workers in sales force.
From statement 2, we can see that 12 workers represents 20% of the sale force
So, we can write: 12 = (20/100)x
Since we COULD solve this question for x, we CAN answer the target question with certainty.
So, statement 2 is SUFFICIENT

Answer: D

Let the sales force = k

1) k-3 = 0.95 k..........We can get K

Sufficient

2) k + 12 = 1.2 K........We can get k

Sufficient
