I disagree.

I think with everyone coming in with great GMATs, grades, and references, the essays are the differentiating factor between top candidates.

Regardless, I'd still use the same essay templates, but make sure they're current, and still your best foot forward describing who you are.

Ues the same temlates. B-schools will probably not even read your essays as long as your score in AWA is 4 and above.

nervousgmat is talking about the GMAT AWA essays, not the application essays...I don't think anybody would argue the application essays are not important.

My Template
The conclusion in this argument is that…….. To support this conclusion, the author points out that……………..The reasoning in this argument is unconvincing/flawed for two/three reasons.

First, the author assumes that……………..This assumption is unwarranted………………Without information regarding the…………….it is presumptuous to conclude that………

Second, the author cites the fact that………………….In any case, the author has failed to demonstrate a logical connection between………………..Without this connection, the conclusion reached by the author is not well reasoned.

Third (optional), the argument omits the assumption ………it would be unwise to make the ………….

In conclusion, this argument is not logically convincing. To strengthen the argument, the author would have to provide evidence that……………….
