I have got admit to
*Babson Olin (2 years), with overall Fees+living, over $ 100k
*Cranfield (1 yr) around 49k
* HHL Leipzig (21 months) $ 50k

I am interested in SCM/Operation/Strategy role post-MBA in Consumer products/e-commerce/Logistics

Please help me decide which one to choose, as I am also awaiting response to few other colleges. Also, is it possible to negotiate with these colleges about scholarship.

Profile:
34 Indian, B.Tech from Top-tier Indian institution
over 9.5 year work ex= 6 years (EPC, project management, innovations) + 3.5 yrs (Leading Retail family business)

Although SCM and operation is my specially, none of the school is famous for SCM. So I will advice you on thinking as country. I would choose Germany over US and UK. If it babson were STEM, you might advice you to go there.

I could totally understand your sugestion about US ( visa concern). So, inspite of language barrier for non-German speaking people, you would prefer Germany over UK even if UK comes up with extended Tier-4 visa post-MBA (+2 years, yet to be officially confirmed by UK gov. but highly probable)?

From what I researched I found that Cranfield's MSc program in SCM is quite popular within UK, allowing networking opportunity to MBAs. Also, I found its alumni base in SCM/operations domain to be more than that of HHL going by linkedin data.

How much do you agree?

My views are Cranfield or apply again next year.

Cranfield - a great UK uni for grad school (that’s their only thing), but known as an engineering school with strong A&D industry ties. Just be sure to get a list of firms hiring at your specific program ‘cause that doesn’t seem to be the school’s focus, esp in’tl students placed from it.

Babson Olin - seems to be a cash cow for the school as it’s all internationals paying full tuition. In these cases the school cares more about the tuition $ than helping students get placed and alumni support from the program is going to be weak.

HHL Leipzig - good luck getting a job in Germany if you don’t speak German.

I have also got admission to Boston university's Questrom MBA program. There is atleast 25k-30k of difference (Questrom higher than Cranfield) even with 50% of scholarship from Questrom.

What is your take on this.

The three schools are in three different countries. I didn’t quite catch that right away. :-)

Where do you want to end up long-term? Do you want to live in the UK or in the US?

I intend to seek SCM/Operation/Strategy role post-MBA in Consumer products or E-commerce/Tech companies. I had kept German schools as backup with my preference was for working post-MBA in US for 2-3 years before coming back to India. However, I had been highly discouraged by many to avoid US option because of current H1-B visa scenario.

So, left with UK option (+2 years proposed extension for those graduating in 2021 and onwards), no-brainer there. So far, I have got offer from Babson, Boston university in US. Cranfield in UK and HHL Germany. Awaiting, Michigan State University and IE Tech-MBA result (IE only for brand name across Europe and even in UK).

What do you think?

If it is the case of Cranfield, I would choose it. I know about SCM master of Cranfield. I actually respect it. So if UK offers visa extension so go there.

Not much has changed with H1B visas In the last few years for the MBA applicants so I’m not sure why you would apply to the program and then rule it out within six months. Unless you didn’t do your research of course but I don’t see meaningful enough changes in the last year frankly. At the same time Babson is a program heavily weighted towards Indian students and international students. That’s not the program you want to be doing in the US. If you attended school in Germany, you need to learn the language and study German. There’s no way around it because no German company wants to take a guy who does not speak the language. That leaves you just with the UK Cranfield. I think it’s pretty easy if these are the options. I can see another option applying in the fall again or I can see attending Babson if you really wanted to be in the US and you were concerned about your age applying in the fall.

Good luck!

You only have 2 real options.

Crainfield if you want to live in the UK

BU if you want live in the US.

Forget the German program, you don’t speak German. Michigan state isn’t worth it, forget it. The IE program may have a good overall brand/ranking, but where are you going to work after??? IE to LDN would be harder than going to Crainfield and if you don’t speak Spanish, forget Spain.

That’s my view.
