Hi GMATT73,

Everyone, Each,Anyone, Anything...are all indefinite singular pronouns...

Please see the link below....

everyone = everybody = every person

As a question, each of the three takes the plural form.

Ex: Does everybody have a dance partner?

vs.

Ex. Everybody here knows how to dance.

Hey thats a catch then...

When an indefinite pronoun is used in the question it takes the plural form...

Thanks a lot GMATT73.

karlfurt, Do you mean to say that 'have' form of the verb can be either singular or plural?

In a question, you put auxiliary verbs such as "do, does" at the beginning of sentence, you have to change the verb into its infinitive/ original form :)

Re: Basic doubt [#permalink]
Can anyone pls explain me the following...

1. when to use 'have' and 'has'.
2. When 'Have' is an auxillary verb then does it always represent plural form?...if so then in the SC question, 'A group of students'... 'have' is used as an auxillary verb for the main verb 'begun'...and the OA says 'have' is used in the singular form...this confuses me more...

3. When 'Have' is used in the infinitive form or as the main verb...does it represent the singular form...

Totally confused now... :(

Re: Basic doubt [#permalink]
st 2 : Does everyone has his or her book looks correct to me

because Does is singular auxillary verb and everyone is indefinite singular noun so has(main verb) should be a right fit. :)
