I'm Marc, I'm 22 and I applied for MSc Finance programs for September 2023. This is my experience. As I said in the title, I applied for 7 programs these are my results:
Oxford MFE: Rejected (Applied on January 2nd, Round 2)
MIT Mfin: Rejected (Applied on January 2nd, Round 1/1)
HEC MIF: Rejected (Applied on January 2nd, Round 2)
LBS MFA: Rejected (Applied on January 7th, Round 2)
St-Gallen MBF: Rejected (Applied on March 20th Round 3)
LSE MFin: Rejected (Applied on March 3rd)
Imperial MFin: Waitlist (Applied on March 3rd)
I don't understand where is the issue, I know there should be one ! This isn't bad luck anymore. Please help me identify it, what did I wrong ?
I have a 740 GMAT (Q48, V44). You'll find attached two of my resumes, that I used for all programs and two of my personal statement. This is personal, I'm posting this stuff here to identify where my weaknesses were and to help future students avoid my mistakes.
Some hints (I'm not sure, what do you think ?):
- I'm graduating this year from a Master in Asset and Risk Management, when people tends to join those programs with a BBA. In France it's common, it's called a Programme Grande École (PGE). But, I just celebrated my 22nd anniversary, and have the exact same age/experience. Also, I found some profiles on LinkedIn that joined LBS MFA and Oxford MFE with a Master PGE.
- My GMAT Quant score is too low ?
- I applied with the ambition of becoming a quantitative analyst, basically a trader, but this implies perfect quantitative grades and background. My GMAT, and results might have weakened my application ?
Thank you so much for your attention, please help me identify some general ideas to improve my profile !
