Dear Colleagues!!
I have started my journey towards my MBA on 26/08/2016 by enrolling to do my GMAT test on 21/11/2016. I thought that, being good with numbers (from my engineering background) I would not struggle with my preparation.
I bought KAPLAN GMAT book and setup a program schedule to follow for my first month, studying two types questions a day. As I had never had any contact with the type of questions I decided not to take any test upfront but rather to go through the materials and start very basic. So far I have managed to cover CR-from verbal and PS,DS- from Quant, but I am struggling a lot. I know I need exercise more, but I think I am running out of time as I still have 9 other portions of the test to study.
I have little more than 2 months still but I need at least 720 to get into the top 5 business schools. I would like to know if you guys have had the same problem as a beginner, and what were your strategies to succeed within 3 months. I am bit desperate and I really would wish some sort of direction/support.

It looks like you need a study plan that you can stick to. Here is a customized 2-3 month study plan that can help boost your score: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-t ... study-plan
Use this as a guideline. You don’t have to follow it exactly but the structure of the study plan should be the same structure that you take in your approach. This helps to optimize your retention and learning.
As you study, we recommend that you focus on one particular subsection for multiple consecutive days before moving onto the next. You can see this in our study plan where we recommend 5 days on nothing but SC -- before moving onto CR and then RC.

Since you've put in some study time already, it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can talk through your study plans going forward.
