I am currently planning to apply for a MBA. I figured that t applying to 1st round is the better strategy. I have rights to waiver the TOEFL exam as I graduated from a English speaking undergraduate degree. I have time to prepare for Gmat, however for TOEFL my time schedule does really fit. I guess it is better for me to have a TOEFL score. So I am thinking about applying next year when I get the chance to be company sponsored MBA candidate. I am now 29 and if I apply next year I will be 30. Would applying 29 or 30 makes difference, and company do sponsored MBA candidates get advantage? If so, by how many points if translated into GMAT. My ethnicity is Japanese, I score 710 on gmac mock exam, but never taken the real exam. My target schools are top 15. I am on a tight schedule, so I would appreciate it if you could comment on my situation. Thank you.

710 rocks ! I am 35 and I have decided to embark on the EMBA journey at Chicago Booth, Singapore. It doesn't matter how old you are, seriously ! The following are my takeaways from the GMAT journey

- gmat score is not a reliable indicator of your admit ticket. It just a part of the package. Unless you are applying for the fulltime program you can ignore a low gmat score. Having 700 is a plus for full time program.
- take time to write your essays. Get a professional review. Ask your friends and colleagues to review your essays.
- take time to decide who will be your referee (recommender). Align your achievements to the school culture. Help your referee to see who you really are.
- dont worry about the age. All that matters is that you are willing to work hard, you have an open mind, you will contribute to the mba community and help your classmates
