Bill is training for a bike race and needs to complete a rigorous weekly training program whereby every Monday he bikes 3 miles, and every Tuesday he bikes 4 miles. After that, Bill bikes the sum of the distances biked the previous two days but will bike only 1 mile if he biked more than 10 miles the day prior. Bill takes Sundays off from biking and then repeats this cycle on Mondays. If Bill starts training on the first Monday of a month that begins on a Thursday, how many total miles will Bill have scheduled to bike before the 21st day of that month?

A) 4
B) 38
C) 79
D) 83
E) 114

Since Bill starts training on the first Monday of a month that begins on a Thursday (1st), bill will actually start cycling on 5th of the month (1st Monday).

Total miles for the week=3+4+7+11+1+12=38
total weeks = 3 since 21 days
so 38*3 = 114
IMO E

Since he starts biking from Monday , by the time he reaches the 21st day of the month he would have driven for two weeks and three days. He already lost 4 days in the beginning. hence 38 x 2 + (M + Tue +Wed) =76+18=94

how many total miles will Bill have scheduled to bike before the 21st day of that month?
befor 21 , so 2 weeks + 2 days (not 3 )

OE seems to be wrong here as it has not considered that 21st of that minth will not have 3 entire M-S weeks. Since the month began on thursday so, 21 will Wednesday and hence answer should consider 2 weeks and 2 days. 83 hrs is the answer acc to that.

IMO D is the ans

This is the first problem where I'm 99.9% sure the answer is completely wrong lol. Answer should be D: 83 miles.

He starts on day 5 of that month (monday) till day 20 (tuesday) in regards to what this problem is asking.

We have 2 full weeks (38*2) + monday and tuesday (3+4) so 76 + 7 = 83.

I am having trouble understanding this problem. I am assuming that 'after that' here means after Monday and Tuesday. However, how can the possibility of he biking only 1 mile exist (if he biked more than 10 miles), if the sum of biking distances on Monday and Tuesday will always equal 7? Could somebody please help me understand this wording?
