A.Not quite parallel.
B.Not parallel,too wordy.
C.Correct answer.
D.Without...nor? , we have a better option available.
E.Change in meaning, the statement seems to mean that 'educational without profanity',while tht meaning does make sense but option C gives out the meaning in a simple and clear way.

+1 for C

There are 2 lists here

Books to be added to the high school curriculum should be educational and
should contain no profanity or
contain no lewdness

+1 for C but I am not sure if the usage of lewdness is correct. But considering the other options, I would choose C.

What is the OA?

+1 for C.

(A) and should have no profanity in them or be lewd --> Books should not contain profanity is enough to convey the meaning, adding "in them" is redundant and awkward

(B) and should not have profanity in them or not be lewd --> Same as A

(C) and contain no profanity or lewdness --> Correct, parallel entities, and uses " without X or Y "

(D) without containing profanity nor be lewd --> Double negative

(E) without having any profanity or no lewdness in them --> Same as A

Hence, C.

MANHATTAN REVIEW OFFICIAL EXPLANATION:

The second ‘not’ in option B is unnecessary and incorrect. The ‘no’ in E is similarly unnecessary and incorrect. Option D is not parallel. Option C is more efficient than option A. C is correct.
