Boston University Has extended the R2 deadline to Jan 11th. I do not think that a very good sign. Any thoughts?

Yeah they notified me by email. I turned in my application a few days before the deadline.

I wish they would have told me this earlier in the week.

They probably received less applications than anticipated. I'm pretty sure MBA apps are down 10% across the board. Georgetown did the same last round too.

I agree jmr71483! I am not sure what kind of effect this will have on the scholarships awarded?

BU seems to be the most active b-school in reviewing applications!
I submitted my app on 4th & received an interview invite this morning! :)
I have scheduled my face2face interview for 25th JAN in Bangalore, India. Anyone else from blore please PM me.

Hey Gandalf007, where'd you hear BU extended the R2 deadline to Jan 11th? I don't see it anywhere on their website, Twitter or Facebook feeds.

I hope you had a good New Year and are settling into 2012! As I know, this is a busy time of year and you may not have had a chance to complete the application that you started for one of our programs over the holiday.

Given that we want to review as many applications as possible for the January 4th deadline that recently passed, I’d like to offer you the opportunity to finish up your materials over the weekend and still consider your application with the current round. To take advantage of this opportunity, please be sure to submit your online application no later than January 11th, 2012 at 11:59 PM EST. If your application is ready prior to this deadline, we encourage you to submit it online as soon as you're ready.

In addition, we’ve streamlined things and now accept scanned copies of transcripts and test scores that should simply be uploaded into your online application. Supplemental documentation such as letters of recommendation and test scores can arrive as late as January 20th to still be considered for this deadline.

@rl123.. I decided to apply to the 2yr MBA program. I changed my decision because I wanted to give myself an option for specialization later on.

I had my interview today with an admissions committee member. She said she hadn't read my application at all, and was going to form a fresh impression of me from my resume and interview. When the committee gets together to decide my fate she will represent my inter-personal skills, while other members represent how good I look on paper. It was interesting to hear BU's process explained and I really appreciated her being so open about it.

The interview itself was a half hour. She read my resume for a minute, and asked about various items. After that it was the normal, Why MBA, why BU questions. She then asked me about a time when a person on my team was under performing, and how I handled it. Asked about what I had learned about myself by taking on leadership roles. If I can't do career plan A for some reason, what are plans B and C?

I think it went well overall, I'll have my fingers crossed!

I would practice with some skype calls to people you know before the interview, the last thing you need is to be distracted by the software. Skype is easy to use, but just make sure your mic is set up properly etc.

Hi guys

submitted my application on the 2nd of January and got an invitee on the 4th of january. I am an international applicant and will fly in to Boston to have a face to face interview and take the opportunity to see the campus.

I am not sure if this is a good sign that I got an invitee so quick? What do you guys think?

Hi guys

Well, it certainly isn't a bad sign! I think they tried to get at least the first wave of invites out quickly, since their decision deadline is at the start of February. So I'm not sure if they had some sort of VIP list that got invited first, or if they sent out all invites for this round that quickly. Either way, just prepare for the interview as you normally would. Good luck, and I hope you have some time to explore Boston while you are here!
