rainy day.
a) wanted to go to fish with his dad, but they had to wait
b) and his dad were wanting to go to fish, but they were waiting
c) were wanting to go fishing, but they had to wait
d) wanted going to fish with his dad, but they were waiting
e) planned on going fishing with his dad, but it needed waiting
what would be the correct answer?
a, b, d can be ruled out because it should be fishing no fish
I am not sure on c as shouldn't it be brad was not were
looks e is the only choice left.

Where did you pull this from? I would imagine the author meant to write for C: "and his dad were wanting to go fishing, but they had to wait," and in that case C would be correct. The use of the pronoun "it" to refer to the gerund "fishing" is extremely awkward in E.
