For those who selected D as the answer-
So although it does seem like a stregthner Q, it is infact not in the real sense.
It is telling us to answer that why the company spends and uses the old wood despite the fact that it can earn more profits with adopting new policy.

But doesn't the question ask to support the company's suggested new policy? So it should be a strengthen question only right?

Wait, or does it ask to strengthen/provide support to the company's existing policy? (if so, isn't it confusing, especially since there is no mention of the word 'policy' for the company's existing way of working. They should have specified new/old policy in that case)

Hey vatsal323,

I had the same issue with this question. We rushed to fast through the question stem. In the question stem it asks which answer choice most strongly supports Brothers' policy to reuse wood . So we have to support the "old policy", which includes reusing wood.

Here's the question stem: "Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports Brothers’ policy to reuse wood?"

I hope this helped you.

See you :-)

I have a doubt Bunuel,

If the number of older houses available for dismantling is declining then we would have no option but to resort to the new policy.

so did i interpret it harshly? should i have taken the opposite as "not growing steadily thereby staying constant"

then yes C i would pick

but how do i differentiate in my perspective of negation as to till what extent to negate.

Bunuel
Brothers Inc, a construction company, spends significant time and money to dismantle older houses piece by piece in order to reuse the wood. Although the company does earn a net profit despite these expenditures, the company could earn even more by adopting a new policy. Brothers’ new land contains hundreds of trees that are already slated to be razed; the company should use those trees for wood instead of the old houses

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports Brothers’ policy to reuse wood?

(A) It is a waste of resources for a company that needs wood to chop down hundreds of trees but not use the wood.
(B) There is virtually no difference in quality between wood reclaimed from older houses and wood processed from newly-chopped trees.
(C) Sawmills can reshape previously used wood much more quickly and cost-effectively than it can shape whole trees.
(D) It would cost the company less to use the trees it already owns than to pay to dismantle homes for previously used wood.
(E) The number of older houses available for dismantling is growing steadily

Great note. I believe answer D was chosen often because we are thinking in terms of what will overall reduce costs (which is true) BUT the question is asking us to support the current policy of using reclaimed wood.
