I always believed that presentations are blend of truths and lies and art of presenting lies with truth as a truth. This approach I followed with my five first round applications to Kellog, Wharton, Cornell, Duke and Yale. I went to the extent that I marked my goals according to B schools and not according to what I really want. All five same result - Ding. Impressed by Olin's free application, I submitted the application with all what I am without any lies and what I really want to do post MBA. Other applications took on an average 25 days to prepare as compare to 3 days for Olin. somebody had said well...lies takes time to be presented as reality....lol.
I got admit from Olin which made me introspect the reasons for Ding from other schools... I can find only two 1) Adcom is smart enough to distinguish lies and / or 2) I am not a good presenter of fake details....lol
Olin admit boosted my moral but tooo late...deadlines for all top B school were history..and also I don't have sufficient left in me to again go thru that traumatic situation of waiting. I applied to Columbia with the same approach I followed for Olin, that is, NO LIES and 2 days back I received a status update email. I was so nervous while I was opening the page....it seriously scared me to death but what is found is a status of "Your application is under review"
what hurts me most now is that wrong strategy had kept me away from top schools, Columbia I my last and only chance because I can't wait for another year
