sorry if I am invoking painful memory you want to put behind..

Are these rejections for Rd 2 applicants or for Rd 1 applicants?

I thought b-schools tend to hold until the last day they promise to notice (say late March for Rd 2 applicants) - seeing how qualified these dings are, I am really getting nervous as i may have par/sub par specs

pulandasu, Columbia does not have R1/R2. Instead the school has a rolling admissions process and Early Decision (decisions have been rendered by now).

Therefore, most applicants are regular decision.

I submitted Jan 6th around 5PM EST. Havent heard back yet. After seeing the bloodbath of dings today im trying to decide if silence is a good thing. I believe I have a unique story (doesnt everybody?!) so im hoping they are going through the rest of the apps to see how unique my story really is. I was under the impression the admissions process is based on order of application. Wondering if silence is golden right now...

Same deal here - submitted Jan 6th at 3pm Eastern, and haven't heard anything yet. I don't think we want to see an email from them today...

Same deal. Haven't heard anything and I applied 1/6 at 9:30am EST. I think an email today is a death sentence.

Tough to post this after such a rough day for some very, very qualified candidates - but:

Had my interview today. Pretty much exactly as expected from what everyone here has said. Interviewer was friendly, but the interview was still pretty intense. Felt a bit more like a job interview than some of my other interviews. Lasted a little over 40 minutes from start to finish. I felt well prepared, and I believe I gave my best answers to the questions asked. Out of my hands now. Columbia is definitely my #1, I just hope I articulated that clearly enough.

Best of luck to everyone.

Finished my interview too. For those still preparing, make sure you practice, because I received all the questions that had shown up in others' posts. Make sure you know what type of leader you are, your ethical dilemma, etc.

Also, they'll ask you where else you applied and why. I prepared for this, but honestly, I just really hate the question. It's a ploy to ramp up their yield -- they can get a grasp into how into the school you really are. A follow up question tends to be, "what's your #1 choice?" Although I'm very excited about Columbia, there's no doubt in my mind that H/S/W would be picked by most above Columbia.
