Good Morning Everyone

I am posting this comment to try to help my friend. You see, I have a friend who religiously checks this forum to the point that it is a disease. I have decided to call the disease "Forumitis" - it is when you check the forums and constantly hit refresh over and over and over again. To you help everyone recognize this disease, here are some of the symptoms:

- Making statements referring to refreshing the boards
- Making arguments and statements beginning with "looks like some ppl..." or "the boards said..."
- Loss of productivity at work
- General lack of hygiene
- Staying in on Friday and Saturday night to hang out with friends from the board
- Even hitting refresh while on the toilet
- Or flat out denying they have a problem

The best way to combat this is to recognize it early and sent them to therapist to get help. How do I know all this, it is because I suffered this in the ED phase. Now that R2 is coming up, I am starting to see other people suffer from this. So, please if you yourself is suffering from this or you know someone who is, please get them help. Please feel free to PM me if you need extra advice. Remember, its normal to check it a few times a day, but hitting refresh is not OK. I just hope this message reaches my friend before its to late.

Good Luck to everyone.

PS this will be re-posted on the Ross board because I know this person is there too

Your "friend" should just go on the chat. We're friendly and it saves your refresh key.

For R1 applicants - did you get your final response on the assigned day or a little bit earlier? Now that there's nothing to do, but wait, I'm wondering if there's a chance to find out before the official date of 3/16?

They'll make all of the acceptance calls on 3/15, although some admitted people may not receive a call (time zone issues).

I've heard from a reliable source that about 280 of ~350 R1 admitted students have paid up their deposits by 25 Feb.

Under the assumption that your source is reliable and all of those matriculate, that's 80% yield! Of course, some are paying to hold their spot and are likely waiting for R1 waitlist and/or R2 decisions. Still, it would require 70 of the 280 forfeit their deposits to get to 60% yield in R1, which is more in line with historical numbers (if my memory serves).

Two more weeks until D-Day for R2 and R1 waitlists!

My source is very reliable. This is the figure reflected in the updated Admitted Students Directory as of today. Yes, that makes it 80% aka BAD news for waitlisters and R2 candidates. Let's all just be brave and strong. Not much else to do, people!

Did you find from your information that all US accepted applicants get a call on 3/15?

Well that's just sad. Is there a practice of waitlisting R2 applicants? If a lot of R1's forefeit their deposit, who fills their spot?

Really, I checked on the Booth website and the class size is 550. Based on the numbers they have already filled 50% of the class. Are you serious!!!!

Yes, R2 applicants are also waitlisted though the chance of being admitted is less as the class fills up. There is a likelihood of some R1 candidates who have accepted forfeiting their deposit once they, say make it off the waitlist at HWS or if they hear from a school in Round 2 that they're keen on/get a scholarship from. But one can never predict numbers. Who knew that so many would accept this time around?

Booth´s upward momentum + Very generous financial aid policy + Wharton situation = higher yield for Booth.

80% is consistent with what I am seeing in my neck o´the woods (very small in the grand scheme of things though)

Yes, there is a practice of waitlisting R2 applications. After R2 decisions, those remaining on the waitlist (from both R1 and R2) are there to fill spots based on the eventual yield.

As adcoms try to forecast eventual yields, there are a few milestones, each of which provides a better estimate of what eventual yield will be. I think a couple of the key dates are:
- April 29, 2011: R2 first deposit due
- June 3, 2011: R1 and R2 second deposit due

Also, the dates of other business schools might also be important milestones. For example, movement on the waitlists of other top schools could cause significant activity among those accepted at Booth.

Oh man. Can everyone just calm down? I was afraid to share this figure here on this forum. I'm going to say this again - about 280 people have PAID their deposit. It doesn't mean that all 280 will ATTEND Booth.

To Nick2010:

Just curious what you mean by "Wharton's situation?" I've applied to both, and I've had a hard time figuring out the dynamic b/n the two.
