I got the interview invite today. I would have loved to complete it on-campus but that's not going to be an option given that it must be completed within 4 days.

Good luck NYYankees!

Im so sorry about the news. Didnt know Booth released decisions to waitlisters at mid decision date. How long were you waitlisted for.

Did any waitlister get a good decision?

Hey all. Long time lurker, first time poster. Wanted to add one more data point. I was an R1 waitlist who got admitted R2! Very, very thrilled.

Stats: 3.7 Ivy, 760. 3 years in consulting (at matriculation) with strong career progression. Strong EC leadership during and after college, in politics and community service.

In terms of waitlist follow up, I just sent two updates, one in January and one in February. Both were short, three paragraph notes. I used them to concisely reiterate my interest, update them on my latest career developments, and explain one or two things in my application, all through the lens of what unique contribution I could make to the class.

I've been reticent to post up until now, but I found a great deal of comfort and guidance in these forums over the last six months, so I'm eager to give back. Congrats to the admits - can't wait to see you all in Chicago. Good luck to all the waitlists - I'm living proof there's still hope. Everyone else, keep fighting - the universe will eventually reward you for your determination, it may just take a little more time to see how.

Which email address did you send your updates?

Should I just send to the general admission address: [email protected] and call to check whether they get my updates and put those in my file?

Great post motion! Does anyone know what the waitlist statistics are for Booth? i.e. how many are on the list and how many get admitted?

I got an email to check my status online, and then showed Deny, with a generic letter on your login page...good luck to all!

Were you waitlisted or R3 applicant?

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how many offers are extended in R3?
Looking at last year's thread - seems a lot of WL from previous rounds came off but only 1 R3 applicant received an offer.

Any perspectives?

I am curious if anyone was able to get a confirmation on whether your WL updates have been added to your file. I just called the admissions office to confirm but the lady who answered told me they couldn't confirm the receipt, however if my email wasnt returned back to me then it's safe to assume it's been added to my file.

Yes, I actually went back and looked at it and felt the same. there were more people reporting who got off the WL then the ones who got in regular round 3. I am not sure though if that is indicative of hte results or its just that more R1/ R2 folks are active on this forum than R3.. I mean we don't have a lot of guys reporting that they applied in R3 either.

Same thing! To be fair to them, they had mentioned in the WL letter that due to volume of such requests they wouldn't be able provide confirmations.

That's true. I read somewhere that R1 accounts for 30% of the applications, R2 50% and R3 10%. So lets asssume R3 also account for 10% of the admits :)
Beyond that its a wait and watch game and lets hope for the best

Booth update - for R3 AND WL applicants

May 05
Round 3 Update
For those of you waiting for your Round 3 decision or who are currently on our waitlist, we wanted to provide you with a quick update on where things stand at this point.

We’re wrapping up our Round 3 interviews and currently reviewing the applications of those who have already completed their interviews. May 18th is our Round 3 decision release date, so if you’re a Round 3 applicant, you will find out whether you have been admitted, waitlisted, or denied on this date. Our waitlisted students will also hear from us on the 18th – you’ll learn whether you have been admitted off of the waitlist, denied, or if you will remain on the waitlist. While we hope to enroll as many waitlist candidates as we can, the possibility does exist that some students will continue to be on the waitlist through the summer.

In early June, we’ll receive our first deposits from our Round 3 admits and second deposits from our Round 1 and 2 admits. As a result, the Admissions Committee will have a pretty good idea of how the Class of 2013 is shaping up at this point. We’ll take some time to closely assess the class and determine if there needs to be any movement on the waitlist. We’ll then continue to closely monitor the waitlist as spaces become available throughout the summer. If you’re on the waitlist during the summer, then you will continue to receive communication from us.

It’s been great getting to know so many of you throughout the admissions process and we hope that you’ll contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions.

What are the chances of getting into booth with the following, and what do I need to do to make up for my obvious shortcomings?

3.7 GPA from a little known (but accredited) undergrad program.

700 GMAT

Age: 27

4 Years Work Experience for medium sized brokerage firm (Non management, low level, non business support function in HR)

letter of rec: (no big name)

My essays will definitely be strong.

Some community service

3 kids (if that matters)

White male

Basically I know this might be long shot, but I am retaking the GMAT because I know with a little polish I can shine in that area. What do I need to accomplish and focus on (other than GMAT) to increase my chances of being considered during the application process?

I'd recomment you ask the folks on the Admissions Consultant section of this forum. They're far more qualified to answer you than current/incoming students and give you pointers on going forward.

Good luck!!!!

Sounds like a down the middle applicant to me. Your GPA is strong, your GMAT respectable. I'm concerned by your work experience - not because you dont have good experience but because you seem to paint it in such a boring and unimportant light. Take some time to figure out what you've done. Applications are a mini exercise in marketing. Learn to market your experience. Don't assume your essays will be strong. Everyone says that, but if I blindly just bet everyone $100 their essays wont be strong, I'd be a millionaire. Some community service sounds fine, if nondescript. Dont worry about your letter of rec not coming from a big name, worry about getting a good letter of rec. If you find a solution to the problem of being a white male, let me know, that could be worth some money. My two cents: Your profile is squarely "admissible", but you dont seem to be doing much of any marketing of your extracurriculars or experience. Figure that out, write good essays and you'll have as good as shot as anyone else.

Does anyone know if they would be calling references at this point for R3 applicants who interviewed? One of mine is going on holiday this week, and I was wondering if that could be an issue.

Has anybody on the waitlist heard anything? For those who visited campus (waitlisted candidates) , what was your experience like? Did Adcom provide any insights into the process?
