Hello Guys, I am an international applicant who has been living in US for the last 5 years. I have been a little late starting in my school research process, but more I have looked, the more I like CMU. I wanted to apply in R2 but was stunted by essay #1 which asks what has the candidate done to learn more about CMU. I haven't visitited campus or talked to many current students , so I didn't feel comfortable answering this question.
My question is this, I am now planning to visit campus, learn more and then apply in R3. Do you think its a fool's errand to apply in this round i.e. does the selectivity increases exponentially at this stage? Or is it still a attainable task?
Thanks
socalscool,
Seems that other have covered the R3 odds, so my comment focuses on the essay part of your questions.
Tepper's essay prompt is in the line of "if you have taken steps to learn about the school, please include these steps in essay 1. The prompt asks you to write about your understanding of the program, in conjunction of "why Tepper helps you achieve your goals".
As you mention that you like Tepper, I am guessing you must have read about the program, perhaps chatted with someone from Tepper online etc. to collect information about the distinguishing features of Tepper. Write about them, and why you think they help you achieve your career goals.
I did not visit the campus, and all my learning about the program came in paper/online.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
