I did get a little scared about the part saying that they will check on everything tha was in the app including calling HR to check salary and so on. Not that anything I said is not true but I don't feel very confortable that my HR get to know about my MBA project at this time of the year when they are deciding about my bonus...

My background check was performed on August'11 and they asked me before doing anything.

PS: congrats btw!

when do they start the verification process? do they call up hr or ur references abt salaries? need to consider when to break the news to my boss... gonna be awkward if boss finds out thru hr...

just current job or do I need to dig up my old boss' contact?

I feel the same way. It's a sensitive matter.

i'm guessing we need to submit this "enrollment form" in order to access the admitted students site right? cos it seems like the only possible next step (even though not sure to pick booth in the end)

did anyone submit it? anyone more clear about what submitting it means?

I'm not so sure about that. On my phone call I was told that I'd be receiving a follow-up email with more information on how to access the admitted student's website, etc. There was no reference to the enrollment letter online.

While the online letter doesn't seem binding, I doubt they'd require you to fill it out prior to admit weekend, etc. I just assumed this was for them to track yield, so there's no sense in asking every admit to submit the form.

Congrats to all those who made it in R1. I am applying in R2 and need some tips for Essay Q3 (presentation one). Can anyone provide me some samples or any reference material?

are any newly admitted students going to the student hosted events that are coming up? I am registered for the one in NYC and was curious to know if you guys thought this was for students applying in R2 exclusively or also for recently accepted students.

I didn't get the call yesterday. I don't know why, but I was so confident this morning...right up until they sent me the email saying my status had been updated. I am a bit disappointed to have been wait-listed, but as Booth is my top choice, I'm going to take some time to figure out my strategy on the video.

got the follow-up email with the info mentioned (access to admit students), i guess that 'enrollment form' actually IS an enrollment form (and not necessary to fill out now if still unsure)

Admitted! I was incredibly stressed as I received a Northwestern ding the day before. Congrats to fellow admits, good luck to waitlisters and good luck with your other schools for those who were denied.

Hi All,

I am a first year student at Chicago Booth. Congrats to all who made it. For people who did not make it, please do not lose heart. I know you might think that it is easier for me to say this because I am already in. I was in your shoes last year and was anxious about my results. I worked very hard on my essays and succeeded in getting in. I was happy but now i regret joining Booth. Contrary to perception, Booth students are struggling in getting internship. There are 200+ chasing consulting for internship with very few consulting opportunities out there. Banking recruitment is down and bank did not make enough offers to 2nd years who did internships. There is hardly any collaboration among Booth students. I and most of my friends have struggled in getting any guidance from batch mates, seniors and alumni. No matter what the admissions blog tells you, Booth alumnus don't respond to your mails. The faculty is great and one learns a lot. But it's practically impossible to land your dream job or anything close to that.

If you have a choice between Booth and H,S,W,Kellogg, Sloan, choose the other schools. There is much more support available. In case you are from Asia, NUS and ISB are better if you consider the money invested in your valuations. It's your career and the choice is completely yours. I just wanted to put the truth out there.

Regards

Can we flag this somehow? How do we know this person is associated w/ Booth?

Moderators.. Please check/flag this post. This person seems to have joined today, and his only post is a rant about Booth. There is no way to verify this.

Dude,

I joined today because I am not applying to B schools this year. Rather I am studying in one. I commented because I read people getting disheartened due to dings. I felt that people should have a complete perspective. Every admission blog or school contact would tell you that the school is great. Does anyone tell you what sucks ? You never get the complete perspective. By the way, I was on the same forum last year and was one of the admits. I don't want to use that login name because it would completely give away my identity. In case people don't want to listen to the truth, I can choose to get out. Anyways I have lot on my plate and could only comment because it is winter break at Booth. Exams got over last week. Hence I have some time on my plate. Having said that, I and all my peers are still busy writing cover letters and posting resumes for internship application. I only took out time because I thought it would have been great if I would have got a complete perspective last year. I did not realize that some people get really scared hearing something negative.

Regards
