It took less than one hour to see the same question. LoL

I had the interview in Hong Kong last sat with one of Booth alumni. It was pretty casual, conversational, and shorter than expected - around 30 min. I prepared a lot for the interview such as why~ type of questions, but for the first 10 min we talked about how this industy is a sort of small world. LoL. As he also works in same industry as me, he asked me about how this market will go, what is the investment strategy under the current situation and so on...These questions were pretty unexpected though.

Now anyways, dice is cast, and I am just waiting for the result....This another waiting is again killing me.

I am a bit concerned about my toefl score, but let's see as I am confident about my other profiles instead. Best luck for all of guyz who will have the interview!

So my interview was this past Monday. I interviewed off campus with an alum in my area. It lasted for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. I can't really say it was much of an interview, but rather a conversation. He did ask a few questions about why an MBA now, why MBA (vs. MPA or MPP), why Booth, what other schools and why, and what would I contribute. Weaved into the answers to these questions I also discussed my career goals. There weren't any behavioral questions. We talked about the town we live in, the NFC East rivalries (he's an Eagles fan and I love my Giants), and his career since leaving Booth. It was Valentine's day so we even talked a bit about the plans for the evening (he had to pick up a card and flowers for his wife). I definitely think the conversation went well. In fact my interviewer emailed me the next morning and thanked me for taking the time to interview. He wants me to keep him posted on where I end up.

He did tell me that his feedback was just a small part of the overall admissions decision, so I know that I need to take the interview with a grain of salt.

I had my interview today with an alumni in my area. He started off with talking about my career goals right away and asked me how Booth fit into attaining them. Then he asked me to walk him through my resume and talk about what I did in my spare time. After that there were a few behavioral questions, and he left time for me to ask questions. Most of it was standard, but he did ask me why did I choose to interview with an alumni in my area as opposed to going to campus to do the interview. I hadn't expected that question at all, but I was able to field it intelligently.

I also interviewed last week. Questions included:

- why MBA
- why Booth <-- spent a lot of time here
- how will you recruit in said career path
- what other schools are you applying to

Interview lasted 45 minutes. We had very good rapport so interview was very conversational. We worked in similar industries, shared similar experiences, and had mutual friends.

Fingers crossed.

Sorry to all those who got dinged--I got dinged from HBS yesterday.

Had my interview with an alum this week, and... am just so excited for the possibility of getting in. I am a reapplicant, and interviewed at Booth last year too. I just really hope things go better than they did last time.

Same here - sorry to all who got dinged, I myself was dinged from HBS yesterday.

Does Booth release decisions on a specific date or randomly?

any idea?

It seems like Booth calls applicants a day before the decisions are posted online. Therefore, we should expect to hear from them by phone on March 20th, if we get in. If not, we'll get the dings in the e-mail by 9am CT of the 21rst.

Apparently my humor is too dry.... :P

I'll be on campus Feb 21 for my interview. Will anyone else be there at that date?

Huntzman, I'll be there a few days of ahead of you. I am flying to Chicago for an on-campus interview tomorrow. Weather looks to be unseasonably warm - 45 degrees and sunny.

Good Luck to everyone for their interview.

I had my interview day before yesterday off-campus with an alum. It lasted around 60 minutes. It was conversational with the interviewer primarily focussing on my "fit" with the school. He mentioned this before he started the interview. He talked about his experiences and asked me following questions.

- Walk through the resume and asked me focus on 'decision points' (change/choice of undergrad schools, change of jobs).
- Goals/Why MBA?
- Why MBA in the US?
- Why Booth? (He probed me here a little bit more. Why is flexible curriculum relevant to you? and sorts)
- Things I do outside work?
- Any thing you want to tell me, I did not cover?
- Any questions?

It was overall a pleasant conversation. He mentioned in the end that I'm a fit for Booth. He also said interview is not a make-or-break deal.

Good luck again to all. Hope we all do well! :-)

So for those who have already interviewed, there is really nothing but the waiting game, correct? This is going to be a long, nail-biting month...

Very true. I had my interview yesterday and I'm already driving myself crazy with what-ifs. Don't know if it's better that the decisions come at once rather than a rolling basis. What to do in this next month...

I had a nearly identical experience. About an hour with an alumni and got a lot of positive feedback at the end. It actually felt like she was selling me on the school. I was expecting something a little more formal - in terms of it being a bit more regimented (Q&A style) and more behavioral questions. But it was much more conversational and we touched on a lot of different topics about my past, short & long term goals, motivations, why MBA/now/Booth over the course of the hour. Will be thinking positive thoughts between now and March 20th.

I did an on-campus interview with a 2nd year student early last week and it felt a lot more structured. The interviewer had a specific list of questions to ask and made sure we didn't go over 30 minutes. That said she was still very friendly and interesting to talk with.

In the waiting room prior to the interview there was also a first-year student just chatting up the candidates and answering questions. Not sure whether she has any influence on the interview verdict but I thought it was a nice design by the school.

Just waiting for 3/21 now. Good luck to everyone.

We (first-years) have absolutely no influence on the interview veredict. Seriously, we just sit there to help out.

Well, thank you just the same. All the first years I met on the tour, waiting rooms, etc. were all very open and helpful.

Strategise: there weren't any surprising questions asked - mostly the same stuff already posted here and on clear admit. I was just commenting that it felt more like a Q&A based on the interviewer's question sheet vs. what some of the off-campus people have described.

Interviewed this Saturday and I can honestly say that it was the most unconventional interview ever!
We didn't talk about why MBA or why Booth or even about my experience. We talked about what I really wanted to do in life (not about goals, but the purpose in life) in great detail...
Then, I got something even more unexpected - I told him that I'm an artist (he was too!) so he asked me to draw something for him!
All in all a very interesting experience. Hope I get in though! Month long wait begins...Best of luck all...
