I think both of you are correct. The scholarships that they offer IMMEDIATELY on the admit is a merit-scholarship that ranges between 10 and 30k, which jjoe is referring too.
What u are talking about rid82, is the final state .... When many of the fellowships kick in such as the Distinguished fellows program, ATkearny, harper fellowship etc plus the many regional fully funded scholarships such as those for Israelis, brazilians, miniority ones etc etc. but these are typically given after the full class has been rounded off. This may be done after they know how many students are matriculating or have declined their offer OR even to stop students, who have cleared some other top-programs, to pick the other school thereby increasing their yield!
