(Sorry to interrupt the interview discussions - good luck everyone!)
@Moss: regarding CBS/academic conflict of interest and the film "Inside Job." Yes, Ferguson did have an agenda when it came to his academia interviewees: to expose the really troubling lack of transparency with regards to conflicts of interest in business & economics - something that the medical field has long been hyper-aware of (do you want doctors publishing medical articles for pharmaceuticals that they have been paid to advertise for, and moreover pass it off as objective knowledge with no disclosure? That is the equivalent of what was happening at CBS). If Hubbard and Mishkin hadn't fit Ferguson's "agenda" so perfectly, they wouldn't have been skewered. I am glad Columbia itself acknowledges that what happened merited serious reform to conflict of interest rules.
I would add that your response seems to connote "well this doesn't affect me so it shouldn't matter"...which is exactly the problem. Everyone from academics to Wall Street to Main Street are totally passive within a system that has proved itself inherently corrupt, looking out for #1 without thinking about the greater implications of their collective actions. The business leaders of tomorrow (and I hope to be among them) should be aware of these issues on more than just a personal level and what "affects student life." It's an ethical issue - what happened was wrong and should be discussed. CBS is a great school and I'm not saying people shouldn't go; I'm saying they should be inquisitive, discerning and maintain critical analysis in b-school and also in their future professions. Our country is too broken to require anything less.
PS: Moss you seem like a really helpful current student so please take this as a discussion point and nothing personal. Thanks for your contributions to GMATClub.

Hey man thanks for the feedback. I agree mostly with everything you've said. I have a few comments I wrote up in a big post, but decided to not make this thread a big debate and just note your thoughts and move on. Thanks for contributing and let me know if you want to take the discussion offline.
