How's everyone's apps going? 4 weeks to the Round 1 deadline.

Who else is going for R-1?

I'm still shooting for Round 1. Just working on rough drafts at the moment, hoping to get them reviewed and completed by October 10th. Got accepted to attend a couple of diversity weekends next month, I'm looking forward to making some great connections while I'm there.

What are people deciding to do in the part of the application where they ask where else we are applying to outside of the Consortium?

I'm reluctant to list all my stretch schools, mostly because I don't know how that will be interpreted.

To me I would just be honest about it all. Schools aren't foolish; they spend money on marketing because they know they face stiff competition. We can never really know what kind of communication adcoms have with each other either. I would hate to get caught out there looking like I was being deceptive. To me I think it is important for a school to know that there is competition so that they are more likely to have some sweetners added to entice you into coming there over another school outside the Consortium. This is based on absolutely no scientific, experiential or factual evidence and is solely my opinion so take it with a large grain of salt.

Does anyone have insight into the rankings process for the fellowship? I've heard that you might not have a good shot with schools you rank lower since they're made aware of your rankings (so, you might only have a shot with schools #1, #2, and maybe #3 at best). Also, are there any reasons to rank particular schools higher than others based on amount of fellowships awarded, or a requirement to be ranked high as I just alluded to?

For example if one was indifferent between say, Ross and Anderson...maybe Ross offers a ton of fellowships and doesn't care about rankings as much as Anderson who offers few, so you'd want to rank Anderson higher for that reason to maximize fellowship chances.

Thoughts from the crowd or past fellowship recipients?

I completely agree with LazyBoy for what other schools to list AND your preferred rankings.

You could spend days going back and forth about how to "beat" the system and still not be anywhere. We really have no idea how schools are interpreting this information and how much weight it places on the applicants. I think it's best to be honest about how you would rank each school. That's the advice I've received about all aspects of my application, and I think it's relevant here. Everything will fall into place as it's supposed to. Might as well shoot for a fellowship at your #1 school.

Does anybody know whether we will be getting emails directly from our schools for the admissions pages? Or will we need to check everything via the Consortium site?

Just submitted my Consortium applications for Haas, Stern, Tuck and UCLA! Wish me luck! Anyone else with me?

I'll make sure to keep everyone posted on what I hear and learn for anyone that's applying in later rounds.

In the above table, does the "latest intake" column represent Consortium applicant information from last year? Does the GMAT range represent that of applicants who received Fellowships, or does it represent that of the applicant pool overall?
