i don't have any inside info but I will say UNC was #6 for me and i got a fellowship. Ross was #5 and i got an interview.... Yale was #3 and i was denied no interview...so idk. There might be some element of truth but I don't think it was so cut and dry.
Yale seems to have rejected an unusual number of folks outright (even non cgsm - check out the main yale thread). I think we will find out when the stats are released that their apps went up and with such a small class they were probably uber -selective. I don't know how yours went but my video interview for yale wasn't that great IMO so there's that.
I know someone who ranked NYU #5 and they offered them the deans scholarship to try to steal them away from their #1 ranked...
all this to say, who knows? Look at the dude from Grant me admission - he did everything most people say you need to do yet didn't get in this year. It's possible he was unlucky or there was just something about his story that did not click. Looking at how large the candidate pool is, sometimes it just works out to luck! You'll get in somewhere - as they say all you need is one!

I actually know the guy from Grant Me Admission...he's a stellar applicant, and there isn't any real reason I can see why he was rejected, other than that (this will sound bad, but it's true in this process) he's Asian and his GMAT score was low compared to that demographic. But he should've gotten into at least one of those schools. It might've been a different story had he applied R2 instead of R1 with that same score. Who knows...this game can sometimes be a game of chance. :-/

So more than half of the consortium schools are outside of this top 15. But would you all think that most consortium students, regardless of school, would have similar opportunities via OP, consortium alumni support, etc. and should be able to obtain desirable job opportunities? (Outside of maybe the top 3 consulting firms (MBB) and bulge bracket banking opportunities (GS, JPM))

Hello everyone! I wanted to provide a quick update from the admissions team. Tonight we are releasing a batch of early Round 2 decisions, with admit calls taking place throughout the day. Applicants with early decisions will receive an email first thing Tuesday (LA time) to check your status on ApplyYourself where you will be able to view your official decision letter. I'll let you know via the blog if any more early decisions are released, but remember all Round 2 applicants will receive a decision on or before April 2nd, which is in exactly one month!
We are still in the thick of evaluating Round 2 applications. As mentioned in my post in January the vast majority of interview invitations were sent through the end of February, but we are continuing to send some invitations out this month, though the volume will be very light. For those of you interviewing with us in the near future, don't forget to read our interview tips so you can be as prepared as possible.

Ahhh! for all the UCLA applicants... too bad they say they haven't gotten my official transcript - so i know i won't be part of this bunch
