Excerpts from today's live chat...

Characteristics and qualities that make AIM different from other leading Asian MBA programs

  • We are one of the oldest business schools in Asia, founded in 1968. It was a partnership between two local universities, local prominent business leaders, and Harvard Business School. Although the school no longer has a formal association with HBS, the legacy definitely lives on, via our faculty, as a number of them were trained at HBS. The school is a member of the Global Network for Advanced Management - a group of 28 business schools around the world, including Yale, Haas, IIM-B, NUS, IE, IMD, and INSEAD, among others. Location is also a differentiator. The Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
  • Being a member of the Global Network for Advanced Management, our students have the option to pursue a dual degree with Yale. This is different from an exchange, which is another option available to our students. With the dual-degree, students spend one year at AIM, and one year at Yale. They receive the MBA from AIM, and Master of Advanced Management from Yale. Students must be within the top 50% of the class to qualify for the double degree. https://wsgsb.aim.edu/academics/master-i ... ee-program
  • In terms of quality of education, I can truly say that it is world-class, on par with the top programs around the world.
  • Our students fare very well in international case competitions. Earlier this year, a group of our students won a case competition, which included teams from USC Marshall, NUS, MIT Sloan, etc.

Admissions, GMAT, GPA, WE.

  • The college requires minimum 2 years of work experience. More the better. Avg work experience of current batch is 4.6 years. Most students have between 3 to 7 years of experience.
  • Average GMAT is typically between 620-630.

School, Classes, Campus

  • The college is known for its boot-camp, participative-learning approach and for primarily using the case method of teaching. Cases are real-life business situations that will force you to analyze complex, ambiguous problems and to make decisions under time and resource constraints.
  • The college focuses on Asian business which is the future of the global economy.
  • The course is rigorous as compared to many other B schools as we go through multiple cases day in day out
  • Most of our classes are based on case studies. The college doesnt really follow the traditional style where only the teacher teach n students listen. Students are expected to prepare for the case studies given and then have healthy discussions in class to increase your knowledge further
  • Professors are available for consulting. It is not very difficult to meet them outside class. Quite a few professors party with us post college hours. Being a small program, professors know the students on a first name basis.
  • Lifestyle led by AIM students: Honestly speaking Term 1 is tough and rigorous. Bt the students believe in studying hard but partying harder. There are a lot of parties that are organised during the year such as Welcoming party to us by our Upper batch, Farewell party by us to the Upper batch, Diwali, Christmas, Halloween and so on.. In the term 1, the clubs are handled by the Upper batch. We have just got the handover of the clubs. The Student Association (SA) at AIM supervises all student clubs. We have different clubs like AIM Green, Consulting Club, Economics Club, PACTS Club, Marketing Club, Sports Club, Music Club, Strategy Club, Finance Club, Innovation Club, Photography Club and so on.
  • The Career Service Office organizes for several networking sessions with the leading companies and alumnus
  • Another important thing to highlight in this course is the Learning Teams we work in. Learning Teams are a very crucial part of AIM MBA Life. They are our family during the stint at AIM. Learning Teams are made considering profiles and cultures.

International Program Options Offered at AIM

  • Asia Study Tour: Take up one week at Asia’s leading universities to learn more about their culture and corporations. Read here for more - https://wsgsb.aim.edu/
  • International Student Exchange Program (ISEP): Spend your elective term in another university. Universities include Wharton (US), McGill (Canada), Melbourne Business School, Mannhiem, among others. Read here for more - https://wsgsb.aim.edu/
  • International GNAM Week: 1 week of student exchange with the best of universities around the world. University partners include Yale, UBC, Fudan, etc.
Read here for more - https://wsgsb.aim.edu/

Tips to Prospective Applicants

  • For prospective AIM applicants: Whilst your application, be yourself. Study more about the college. Ensure that the strengths of the college match the interests you are looking for. Please be rest assured that you will receive quality education in this college.
  • Do your research! Each school has unique qualities, ranging from learning environment, location, and fields of expertise. Try to reach out to various people at the schools, including staff, students, and alumni. This will help you get a better understanding of the school.

What characteristics you look for in prospective applicants?

1. Academic readiness - is the student ready for the MBA?
2. Employability - this is assessed via CV, professional recommendations, and interview
3. Fit with the school/program - assesses via interview. When interviewing a candidate, the question at the top of my mind is: Will this person be a positive contributor to the AIM community?

We are happy to connect you with current students and alumni, so you can learn more about AIM. Please write us at mba@aim.edu
