My Super Saturday notes:

- first of all the weather was just gorgeous - a great day for the adcom to sell everyone on the School :-)
- the event was organized very well: current 1st and 2nd years students, alums and adcom members participated in the event + about 100 applicants.
- applicants were broken into 4 cohorts with slightly different schedule. The 4 modules that were mixed were: Student Panel, Tour & Networking, Career Panel, Interview.
- Interview itself:
-- I was interviewed by a recent alumnus
-- He explicitly stated that he has not seen my profile and the only thing he has is my resume
-- My interviewer was certainly selected for me specifically - he had a very similar profile to mine (moved from other country, lived in DC, now does Business Development in IT company)
-- No trick questions - just a pleasant talk over the resume and the experiences. It was 1hr total, but the questions for me part was only about 30 min.
-- IMPORTANT: make sure you can talk about why Haas (class names, defining principles, small class coulture, SF bay area, etc).

Hope my interview will grant me something good - I really want to go to Haas. Good luck to all!

Got my Haas invite. Will probably schedule something end of Feb since I will be out traveling for work next 2 weeks.

Is there some place where folks have written up their interview experience / common questions?

Also for men, what is recommended attire. Dark suit and white shirt? Or suit and tie?

Here: https://www.clearadmit.com/wiki/index.ph ... yInterview
Or you can check back through this thread and see what people have posted about their interviews.

I would wear a suit and tie unless the interviewer specifically says otherwise. Treat it like a job interview.

EDIT: From one of my earlier posts in this thread--

Make sure you're familiar with Haas' four guiding principles (question the status quo, beyond yourself, etc.) because you'll probably be asked for examples of how you exemplify one or more of them. Rich Lyons (the Dean) posts a lot of good stuff on Twitter--you can get a pretty good feel for the school's culture and focus by reading his tweets and the stories he links to.

I was also asked about an entrepreneur I respected, which I wasn't really prepared for since I don't have any interest in entrepreneurship, so I had to try to fake that one. Other "standard" MBA interview questions dealt with tough decisions I had made, specific times I'd shown leadership, how I built loyalty and teamwork within a group, how I influence people aside from using rank/title, etc.

Other than that you can expect a pretty straightforward interview. Be able to explain everything you've done, what you want to do, why you need an MBA, and why you think Haas is a good fit for you--small and close-knit class, collaborative culture, Haas@Work, SSS, IBD, proximity to Valley tech companies, or whatever applies to your interests and goals.

To anyone who has interviewed already, did you have an updated resume between your application and your interview? If so, how did you communicate this?

Did you send it to your interviewer ahead of time?
Did you submit it again to ad comm?

Trying to figure out what to do, my interview is on Wed.

I changed the format of mine slightly between application and interview, so I brought a copy of the new one to my interview. My interviewer had received a copy of my application resume from AdCom and had reviewed it prior to the interview, but didn't have any problem working off my new one for the interview itself. You could also email one to him/her ahead of time unless he/she mentions already having received it from AdCom.

It's almost three weeks to deadline and I still have not received an interview invite :(

From round 1 experiences: is it still possible at all to get an interview invite this late?

Yes, people were getting invites less than a week before the deadline.

Two questions

1. Any idea when we start hearing about R3 invites?

2. I just noticed TODAY that my Round 3 payment did not go through (online). So, although my application now looks like this: Application submitted on 1/20/2011 Application Fee Paid on 2/8/2011

Does this mean I am excluded from R3 consideration?

Pretty sure you'll be okay...they seem to give an appropriate amount of leeway when it comes to missing pieces of the app...whether that's recommendations, maybe a transcript mis-scan, payment (in your case), etc.

If you're really concerned about it, I'd say give them a call or send an email.

Does the timing of one's application went under review have anything to do with when one's application is actually being reviewed?
Mine went under review in early Dec. and I haven't heard anything yet...
Guess there's not much hope for me then... as decision date for R2 is approaching...

I'm R3 and my app has been under review for a couple of days, maybe even a week at this point. Submitted 1/19. No word.
