Just curious - any California invites?

I've been reading that Berkeley is increasing their out-of-state and international student pool across all programs due to budget concerns (CA students pay lower fees).

Again - I realize this forum is a small sample. Just curious.

This has probably been asked before but given there is barely any activity on this thread and no mention of any interview invites in recent days (I'm still waiting myself) - when does Haas stop sending out invites? Any international students hearing from Haas?

Waitingforhbs, you are probably right. My brother (who is a professor) attended a conference at Berkeley last week and a Haas faculty member mentioned that they're short staffed and have a limited budget this year. I reckon there are going to be few scholarships and like you said, more international students (bodes well for me! :P).

I feel your pain, standin. My app went under review on 10/27.

The only observation I can make is that several interviews seem to have gone out to folks in/from California, although there've been some international invites as well. My guess (based on nothing, really) is that the AdCom's extended an invite to the strongest applicants (yeah, you too Avernusaur ) and placed several applicants "on hold" while sifting through the rest of the R1 apps.

Oh well, who am I kidding? I'll make up any theory to survive these next few weeks

I completed my interview a few days ago.
The questions were pretty standard - why MBA, why now, why Berkeley, post-MBA goals.
In the beginning we talked about my background from the perspective of the decisions I took in my life - how I chose the university, my first and second jobs and what I learned in each of these positions.
Then a few typical behavioural questions followed - give me an example where you led a team, where you challenged the status quo, where you went beyond yourself and so on in line with the defining principles of Haas.
The we talked about life in the Bay area (I'm an international applicant) and I had time to ask my questions.
My interviewer strictly adhered to the School's interviewing guidelines so I guess the process is pretty standard.
Good luck to all my fellow applicants!

In the same boat. Applied on oct10, app went under review on oct28.
Haas definitely takes its time.
Given that the gmatclub invite rate is fast approaching 50% rule of thumb), my hopes are going south.
Btw wiredo, if I remember correctly, I believe you have a strong profile too.

Please add me to round 2 applicants. would be closely watching the progress of others. :-D, as we have great profiles all around.
My profile:

What does this forum think about the expected turnaround times of round 2 applications?

I got my answer via an email from Haas just now that many of you must have received:

Dear ******,

Thank you for submitting your Round One application to the Berkeley MBA program. We know how much time and effort you put into the application, and we appreciate your strong interest in Berkeley.

Over the last two months, we have prepared and begun reviewing your application. Our Admissions Committee takes great pride in reading and evaluating applications for admission. Every single application, regardless of GPA, GMAT, or number of years of work experience, is read by a minimum of two readers. In many instances, an application is read by three readers, and sometimes four. As a result, it does take some time before we extend our interview invitations. Please be patient as you await word from us.

We have already invited a number of candidates to interview, and we will continue to extend interview invitations up until our Round One notification date of January 13, 2011. Please note that you should not be discouraged if you do not receive an interview invitation by our Round One notification date. Some Round One applicants will be offered a place on the waitlist without having been interviewed; these waitlisted candidates are welcome to schedule an interview in January and February.

Again, thank you for your strong interest in Berkeley-Haas. We look forward to reviewing your application!

Sincerely,

---The Berkeley MBA Admissions Team
