So is there any hope of getting an interview from Haas now that Stanford has rejected me? (I only applied to the two and it was probably clear from my application that I would rather go to Stanford.) Perhaps they were waiting to see if I was going to Stanford before bothering to interview me? ...grasping at straws here...

How could it be clear from your Cal app that you wanted to go to Stanford?

Hi Oski24, congrats for the interview invite! I'm a reapplicant too and was interviewed last year... I guess it seems that they do require re-interview!

Other than the fact that most Cal applicants would choose Stanford over Cal if they could, I also mentioned that my husband is a Stanford student to explain that I am committed to staying in the Bay Area for my MBA. Not explicit but I would think fairly obvious, even though of course I listed all the things I like better about Cal.

Thanks ounce. I have a feeling yours will come soon...I think ad com was sifting through apps that they are not as familiar with first.

Wow, quite the comment. I guess Stanford AdCom is a pretty good judge of character huh? Let's hope Cal AdCom is just as perceptive.

I didnt think it was so pervasive a sentiment until I spoke with some Haas students over the summer during their internship at my company. They made it pretty clear that it was a pretty standard feeling even if it was not talked about a lot.

I suspect the overlap of Stanford applicants and Haas applicants is substantial - the programs share so many characteristics. If either school attempted to delay decision-making until the other had finished the timeline would double, at least.

I personally do not want to go to Stanford. That might be a big statement to some, but I live in the BA and know both programs and grads from both programs and much prefer Cal. Granted, I don't think I would have gotten accepted anyway, I would prefer Cal over Stanford.

Got my ding from Stanford then my interview invite from Haas within about an hour of each other yesterday. Wanted to do on-campus but they didn't have anything available for the next two weeks so I'll be doing off-campus. Figure it should be pretty similar to the Anderson interview I did with an alum a few weeks back.

When did your Haas application go under review? Mine went pretty late for R1 (Nov 22). I am trying to see how long do they usually take to respond with an interview invite if any.

I got an email from Nicole at the admissions office on Oct 26 that said my application was ready for review, and a "don't panic" email on Dec 9 that said the following:

"Thank you for submitting your Round One application to the Berkeley MBA program. We know how much time and effort you put into the application, and we appreciate your strong interest in Berkeley.
Over the last two months, we have prepared and begun reviewing your application. Our Admissions Committee takes great pride in reading and evaluating applications for admission. Every single application, regardless of GPA, GMAT, or number of years of work experience, is read by a minimum of two readers. In many instances, an application is read by three readers, and sometimes four. As a result, it does take some time before we extend our interview invitations. Please be patient as you await word from us.
We have already invited a number of candidates to interview, and we will continue to extend interview invitations up until our Round One notification date of January 13, 2011. Please note that you should not be discouraged if you do not receive an interview invitation by our Round One notification date. Some Round One applicants will be offered a place on the waitlist without having been interviewed; these waitlisted candidates are welcome to schedule an interview in January and February."

Interview invitation came yesterday, but no response yet from the interviewer they told me to contact.

Anybody know when the first acceptance calls/emails will start happening? After their holiday break or could a few trickle out beforehand?
