I just received an e-mail from Columbia stating that the admissions person would like to speak to me regarding my application and that I should give them a call. I tried calling back but he was busy and haven't heard back since. My interview was submitted 09/19. What could this be about? An admit call or a "request for information" call?

I just got an invite earlier today. Regular decision, J term. Forgot when I submitted, but very early.

740 GMAT, 3.3 from a state school in NY, 24 years old. I was CEO of a startup for 2 years and wrote a sci-fi / fantasy novel.

As I am in a situation similar to yours - still waiting for a decision - I like to make some suppositions.

I think "diversity" is really important for any MBA and especially for a top one. So, I think they work with buffers. If you are an indian IT guy (sorry for the cliché), you will be judge on your application and you will fail or pass. If you pass, your application will go in a buffer where other super smart IT indian guys are and then when the buffer is full, you will be compared among your peers in that group. So that, at the end of the day, your application is delayed because they are still trying to figure out if you are the best of a category or still waiting to find more applicants like you (in order to compare you with similar profiles). So if you are still waiting, it is perhaps a good news.

The other supposition is that the person sending Ding emails is too busy.

Bonjour! I am going to be in Paris beginning of this November for a business trip.

I am a portfolio manager in a central bank. I manage my country's foreign exchange reserves and acts as a financial agent to the Government. I have taken on many projects within the bank, such as forced M&A between two commercial banks, local monetary policy transmission developments etc ... My profile is definitely different from others .... working in a young economy, WE has been rich and quite eventful.

I will be sure to keep the forum informed and help to give people idea of what's happening.

Is anyone else having trouble scheduling an interview? The ambassador that I reached out to takes forever to respond to emails usually 1 day per email. Very frustrating.
