Quick question - the waitlist Q&A says it is discouraged to submit additional LoRs. I was thinking of having a letter of support from a current student / faculty submitted, but not sure anymore of this is a good idea considering the guidelines. Anyone have any experience or views?
Letters of support from an alumni or faculty - not sure about current student - are generally welcomed and considered distinct from a regular recommendation. They need to emphasize fit with the school from an alumni perspective. Did you do the one upload LOR and the one emailed already?

Hi all, for those who ’’ve done the interview, the interview invitation will disappear on the portal?
Previously also applicants have mentioned that the interview invitation usually disappears from the portal after the interview is completed. This can be an indicator that your interview is done, and your application is moving to the next stage of review. (It may vary too, according to the review process timing/ tech glitches, so no need to worry). All the best everyone.

I was waitlisted with interview in Round 1, and a week ago, Columbia contacted me to let me know that they found my profile attractive and asked if I was still interested, as there was a high probability that I would receive an offer. Their estimated timeline was for the first days of March. However, I have already been admitted to UCLA with a good scholarship, so Columbia is no longer a competitive option for me.
Congratulations mjcalderon on the UCLA admit, best wishes for future! Did you send any updates to the adcom after being waitlisted?

How did they approach you? I was also waitlisted R1 post interview and an admissions person emailed me asking if we could have phone call to discuss some questions. Has anyone else received something like this? Not sure if/how to prepare.

Adcom reaching out for a follow-up call post-waitlist can be taken a positive sign, as it suggests the adcom sees potential in your candidacy but may need additional clarification before making a final decision. In previous cycles, candidates who received similar outreach were often asked about their continued interest in the school, any significant updates to their profile, or specific aspects of their application. To prepare, be ready to reaffirm your commitment to Columbia, go through your application again, highlight any meaningful professional or personal updates, and confidently address any potential concerns they may have. Treat the conversation as an opportunity. While it’s not a guaranteed admit, it indicates you are still a good contender, so make the most of the opportunity.

All the best! Please do share your experience Yuri170

The Adcom asked if I had any deadlines, had been accepted to other schools and if funding was an issue in case I was admitted

Have any R1 waitlisted applicants received any offer? I’ve been seeing posts about R1 waitlisted applicants receiving calls and emails but just wanted to see if anyone actually converted and received an admit.
