Phew. Just had my interview. I think it went relatively well, even if there were some awkward moments, especially at the end.

I did my interview with an alumnus where I live, and it lasted about 45 minutes.

He started off with a review of my resume and it turned into a relatively informal discussion/interview from there. He asked me specifically about my leadership experience, teamwork experience, problem solving experience, and analytical experience (requesting actual examples from work... I am not sure if I handled these questions as well as I could have though). Of course, he asked why MBA and why the Johnson School. He asked what other schools I applied to any why. He also asked for "three things about myself" that he should include in the write-up (I probed a little and asked if he meant professionally, personally, etc. and he said anything would work). He did not ask about what clubs I would be interested in at Cornell, and did not talk at all about my current non-work activities.

Now it's just a waiting game until December 17th I guess. Fingers crossed!

Good luck to anyone else who still has to interview.

Hi Guys -

Has anyone attended telephonic interview? Are there any disadvantages of attending a telephonic interview compared to alumni interview?

I am asked to contact an alumni in my country, India, but this is relatively tough for me because I don't have much time. I have to finish interview some 5 days before the notification date - 17th dec that leaves me with not much time for first to get in touch with someone from one of the 4 alumni that I have been given a list of with no one in my state. Even alumni will take some time to respond and give me a time slot. Then to arrange my travel.

Rohit,
If given an option I would setup an interview with an alumni at any cost. One cannot really gauge someone's interest in the program through telephonic conversation.Body language, confidence and composure are important aspects of an interview and can only be measured if you are in a face to face interview.

yeah, even I felt so. I am trying to get in touch with an alumni but their response time is beyond my control and I can't think of blaming them because everyone needs little time to plan and make a formal reply. Let' see.

When have you scheduled yours? Did you ask before what date you are expected to be finished with your interview?

I scheduled mine for this Monday and they did not tell me anything about the interview deadline.

I received an email from Cornell today asking me to reconsider applying for the Park Leadership Fellows program. The email said that they encourage all U.S. citizens to apply. Did anybody else receive that email? Does anybody know if it will it be held against me if I don't apply to the program and submit the prerequisite essay (I'm already a marginal applicant as is)?

Any help would be appreciated.

I got one too, and I spent Thanksgiving writing that essay. Can't hurt! I wonder if it was an automatic email to anyone who left the box unchecked?

I'm sure you'll be fine. The time to start worrying is when they've informed you of late materials and you still have not complied.

Its perfectly all right. All the schools accept recommendations up to one week. And dont worry even my application just says submitted and I submitted everything on time. The status will only change once they start reveiwing the application.

Thanks for confirming that. I just had a buddy who was applying to Tuck tell me he just got an interview. I'm really happy for him, but was a little surprised to not have heard anything from Cornell yet since they are on a similar schedule.

Hopefully will see some status changes in the next few days...

Btw just an interesting fact that Randall Sawyer mentioned at the Meet and Greet here in NY. Apps are down 15-20% so far this year, and Randall said not just at Cornell, but across the board with people he has spoken too...a good sign for current applicants hopefullly!?

Wow, this is really surprising. I have not read anything else pointing to this, but maybe it was an unexpected twist that they are just now finally starting to see, since applications have actually been coming in for a couple months already.

Just now, I read a post from another forum that one got johnson offer one week ago.(he alos got inteview from wharton/chicago/yale/columbia)

Surprised because the notification day is Dec.17.

So I wonder Cornell will deliver the decision before the decision day? Anyone else got offer?
