I completely agree. But i guess that is answer they will give for anyone having a score less than their 80%'ile range. Its far more objective than saying - We need to see more of leadership skills both in and outside of work!

In my initial chat with admissions after being waitlisted, I was told the only weakness of my application was my GMAT. I guess it's better than having a lot to work on, but it's frustrating when they talk about no one factor outweighing another and the whole "holistic" approach. No one admits it but the GMAT means more than they say it does.

From what i remember - Q was 61% and V was 70% odd. AWA was 5.5, i guess that is just a number which no one really cares.

ACNguy, I thought you were pretty committed to Darden, what changed your mind?

I was hugely committed to Darden, but during Darden Days they specifically said my chance of landing a spot at M/B/B in the Minneapolis office were slim to none and slim just left the building I decided region would play a part in my decision. Ross called and let me in and I realized that not only would I have a better chance at that spot if I were in Ann Arbor, but also my GF could visit MUCH more easily with direct flights leaving every hour between MSP and DTW (Both Delta hubs). I'm torn up about the decision, I really felt a better connection with Darden and one day I may come to regret it but the decision was made and I now just need to sort of move on. Like I said before, however, this is by no means an indictment on Darden. I loved that school more than any other I visited and really felt that the curriculum, faculty and atmosphere were all top notch.

So yesterday was a second deposit deadline, and it was a very hard deadline this year. I think that now people from the waitlist have a real chance because Darden now knows exactly how many people are committed.

Or no chance at all because yields are too high. I guess it really just depends on how many people didn't pay the second deposit. I would imagine it couldn't be more then a handful.

either way you would know about now. i realize how stressful it is to be on the wait list, but the stress comes from not knowing. i guess knowing would give you a relief in either case: either prep for classes or prep for the application process next year.

Has anyone heard anything or talked to anyone in the admissions office since the second deposit deadline? I thought they would have made another round of cuts from the waitlist with a better idea of how many people will be enrolling for the fall.

for all you waitlist folks i don't think it is looking good. sara neher sent an email asking if anyone would like to defer admission to class of 2013. looks like more people accepted offers than expected.

As someone on the waitlist, I am pretty much writing off my chances at getting in last minute. Even if a significant amount of people defer a year, I doubt they would pull anyone in off the waitlist.

It's not entirely over yet, but I'm already looking towards getting my applications ready for the fall.

So if it seems like they are oversold for the class of 2012 already why are they still letting us sit on the WL?

As someone most likely applying again this fall, it is also somewhat alarming to think that other schools could be in similar position where 5-10% of the slots for 2013 are filled before review of R1 apps even starts.

The reason you are still on the waitlist is that Darden is oversold and was thinking about adding a section. I dont think that will happen now as it is rather late, but it was considered at one point.

Then why keep anyone on the waitlist at all? They have to be expecting some movement before the start of classes. I doubt the movement will be more than 1 or 2 people though.
